Being the weekend, my post today is going to be bit more of a ‘filo-esophagus’ (sic) look at the trend of posting food pictures and other ‘I’m doing XYZ’ menial tasks on Facebook, twitter and the hipsters favourite Instagram. I often hear from people who don’t really get social media a rant of resentment about users publishing updates about what seems to be menial and mundan. With regular rants about them not wanting hear about what people are having for breakfast or similar things.

When it comes to social media, if you are not using it be social, you are not using it correctly.

Being social is about shared experiences, whether those experiences are in the physical moment of now or the shared experiences of the types of things we do. These are the things that make us realise that we are not alone, that we are a part of a much larger tribe.

But there is another aspect to this that I want to talk about and that is how we celebrate and show gratitude for all that we have.

Celebrating what we have can be in the way in which we experience and savour what we are doing. The time and effort we put into preparing a meal as well at the people that we are sharing it with. The way in which we enjoy and engage in the flavours as it swirls around our mouth. Taking a picture and posting online is like celebrating your meal and inviting others to share in the experience. It shows gratitude for what we have.

Complaining about a meal is a first world problem and not something many people in the third world have the luxuary to experience.

If you are not able to show gratitude for the small things, what makes you think you deserve the big things in life.

For me I find joy in knowing that others are showing the gratitude for the things they have and not what they don’t have. Maybe you can to.

All right, so the first attempt at trying maintain regular posts has been for the most part a complete failure. On the positive side I had been thinking about doing it for the last 9 months or so…. My lack of posts haven’t been with out reason. Since my last post I have gone through some major personal and emotional upheavals in my life from extremes of happiness to extremes in sadness that I haven’t ever felt before. So it is fair to say that I just haven’t really been in the zone for it.

It is a shame, because writing about it and sharing it would have been a good thing for me to help deal with all that was going on.

But as they say if at first you dont succeed, try, try again. And that is what I am going to do. I am getting back on track so to speak. I still haven’t really zero’d in on what it is I am going to be writing about. My feeling is just to write and see what comes natural and what is the most enjoyable.

Side Note
So I know there are some real Grammar Nazi’s out there. I have much respect for you and your empathic approach to grammar and spelling. You keep the world safe from the complete extremes of incomprehensible language. But for this to be enjoyable to me, it needs to come from my voice and when I say that I mean most of the posts will be written in a very verbose style of language almost as if I am speaking to you directly about the subject matters.

It is fair to say this has been a long time coming. Even a normally quiet persons needs a forum for venting their frustrations and trials with the world and life. Screaming into a pillow only has some much effect. This is especially the case when the issues are deep and complicated, so this is why I am here. Not the why I am here “Answer to all life” why I am here, but the why and what am I venting about why I am here.

Being a marketing geek and possibly an undiagnosed asperger ‘thinker’, people and the way they think both frustrate and intrigue me to the level that I am always obsessing and trying to understand, extract and partition people into the late night.

So this site is really a round-trip quest for sleep.

I am undecided exactly what I will spewing forth in my rants, although I am very faithful in the fact that over time and posts this will change with refinement to be more exacting.

At the moment the general direction is looking and talking about the behaviour of people as they interact with myself, other people and objects in life, work and daily consumption.
